I'm sure all you girls will agree with me that flat, lifeless hair is an absolute nightmare, especially on nights out. I tend to avoid back combing like the plague (I frequently abuse my hair with bleach and use heat on a daily basis, so I don't want to cause any more damage!) so when my friend introduced me to volumizing powder, I was excited to try it out for myself.
I decided to try go for VO5's 'Instant Oomph Powder' from their Give me Texture line, due to it's purse friendly price of £4.07 (yes, I'm a cheapskate!) The small print instructed me to sprinkle the powder onto my roots and then rub in and tousle with my fingers to give my hair an instant boost. The powder feels a little sticky at first but it's very easy to apply and smells lovely.
The product does exactly what it said on the tin - within seconds my hair lifted instantly with a matte, textured finish. If I use too much my locks can feel a little bit gross but the right amount gives that 'bed head' look which I love. My hair dropped after a few hours but a quick ruffle with my hands and the volume was back - the travel-friendly packaging also makes the powder perfect to carry around in your bag which is ideal if you need to touch up throughout the day.
Overall this a great little product for those of you who want to give your hair an extra boost - I've used this on every night out since I purchased it and I've yet to be disappointed. It's cheap, it works and it's perfect to pop in your handbag - just remember that a little goes a long way!
Hope you're all great and have exciting plans for tonight! I've decided to save my pennies this year and not go out - one of my best friends recently got a new flat so a few of us are heading around hers for glasses of wine and lots of films. I'm also going to try and do a 'Yearly Round Up' type of post for my favourite beauty products of 2012 very soon - it's just been proving a little difficult to take good pictures due to the horrible lighting (it's rained constantly in the UK this past week!) However, I'm going to try and blog as often as I can before I head back to Southampton on Saturday and have to part with my Mom's DSLR again - although I'm definitely excited to go back to Uni :)
Hope you all have a good one and I'll see you in 2013!
